“Phugly”

“Phugly” is a word that I invented quite a while ago. However, I just read an article that says if I want credit for inventing a word I need to publish it somewhere with a date. I have only used the word in emails with friends and my friends have asked what it meant and I told them. Now a couple of friends use the word and I’d like to claim ownership of this word.

This is going to be a very short blog. Pardon my English but the definition of “Phugly” = “f*ck*ing ugly”. It seems to me I do not like to use the “F” word but there are times when you see something or someone that no other word can be used. So, I started using “Phugly” so as not to swear. It’s meaning is understood but it’s not as offensive. So, the next time you see something or someone who is “f*ck*ing ugly” just use my new word “Phugly” and you probably will not insult your listeners. They may ask you what it means but as the word catches on people will come to understand that it’s meant to clean up a phrase so as not to be so offensive. I hope you like my new word. I realize it’s not the best word to invent. But sometimes one cannot help but comment on something that is “Phugly”.
